The claimant sought laser removal of a butterfly tattoo on her left wrist. The first three sessions went well but the defendant employed an unqualified assistant for the fourth treatment which left very significant scarring to a large area of the claimant’s wrist. The claimant was brought in contract and negligence. Liability was initially denied but compromise was reached when the insurers realised the extent of scarring caused by the procedure.
