To all clients of St John’s Chambers,

Further to the Prime Ministers announcement today of the continuation of restrictions nationally, our clerking teams and barristers continue to work remotely, as well as a small team based at 101 Victoria Street. All members of the clerking team are contactable between 8am and 6pm by phone, MS Teams or email.  Email traffic is the norm now, and many of our clients are also working remotely.  Our clerking teams will respond promptly, but please bear with us, and if your enquiry is urgent, direct dial or mobile numbers can be found here.

We continue to support and provide professional legal services from Chambers office with the administration support staff in attendance from 8.30am until 5.30pm. All staff are aware of the need for compliance with social distancing measures, and all previous safety precautions for Covid-19 remain in place for their own safety.

Chambers no longer accepts hard copies of files, and we are using electronically systems not only to facilitate speed, but also to reduce our carbon footprint. Papers for Counsel’s attention must also be emailed to the relevant clerking team for logging and acknowledgement of receipt.

Meetings in Person and hybrid hearings.  These will only take place at Chambers where they have been pre-booked to ensure that we have sufficient space and compliance with social distancing measures, and there is a legal reason for doing so.  As part of our continued commitment to ensure the safety of our members and staff, as well as our clients, all attendees should bring their own refreshments.

Meetings / Hearings.  95% of conferences are now held by telephone, MS Teams, Zoom or Skype, and if you require assistance please contact the relevant clerk to organise here.

We continue to maintain vigilance and the safety of our members, staff and clients is paramount.  ‘Anti-bac gel’ units, social distancing signs, and masks and gloves are available at our reception.  Conference rooms are stocked with anti-bac gel and cleaning materials supplies, as well as monitors linked to the Wi-Fi, and secure internet capability to support both Windows and Mac devices.

Payments.  All payments to Chambers must be made electronically. If you need to speak to a member of the fees team email [email protected] or call our Fees team – details can be found here.

In conjunction with the marketing team, our members have been working hard to keep you informed with up-to-date changes in legislation and news articles.
