Zoey White has recently helped the Bristol Local Family Justice Board to produce the Guide to Family Court Proceedings for those who have experienced domestic abuse. This guide is part of the 16 days of action against gender-based violence, which is an international campaign that runs from 25th November (the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10th December (Human Rights Day) and encourages action and awareness against all forms of violence against women and girls.
The aim of this guide is to support those that have experienced domestic abuse and need an order from the Family Court to protect them and their children. This guide has been designed to answer some of the questions around the court process.
The guide was written by District Judge Gareth Webb, Amy Finnimore, Trauma-Informed Practitioner, Cathryn Blyth from Voices and Emma Whewell from the University of the West of England.
Zoey was part of a team of barristers and solicitors who all commented and greatly assisted in the production of this guide.
