Nick is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Exeter and an Associate Academic Member of St John’s Chambers.
From 2010 – 2021, Nick practised as a specialist commercial and chancery law barrister. His particular areas of expertise include commercial and contractual disputes, private international law, domestic and international arbitration. In 2018 Nick became an accredited mediator and regularly acted in mediations in his core areas of specialism. In summer 2021 Nick accepted an appointment as Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Exeter.
He has been consistently listed in Chambers UK for commercial and chancery dispute resolution since 2015 and regularly acted in cross border or offshore litigation, as well as wholly domestic matters. Spears 500 lists Nick as ‘a recognised expert on international arbitration [who] punches way above his call’.
Nick’s interests in academia mirror his specialisms in practice. He co-ordinates the final year of study on the LLB Law with Business programme at the University of Exeter, and convenes modules in Equity & Trusts, Corporate Governance and Corporate Finance. He also takes a lead in providing advocacy opportunities for students.
Nick is the author of a number of precedents and other materials in the field of Private International Law available through the Lexis Nexis PSL services, and has given expert evidence as to the content of English law before foreign courts and tribunals. Nick continues to provide lectures and training to a number of leading law firms.
